Tonder
Location: Tonder, Denmark
Description: The new Tonder Town Hall building project is based on a local context, taking into account the relationship between nature and construction as well as the respect Tonder shows for traditional architecture.
We propose a contextualised constructed space based on two important ideas: sustainability in the construction process and context conceived as a mixture between nature, traditional local construction and landscape.
Tonder Raadhus becomes a kind of small village condensed into a building; its corridors are the streets, its offices the houses and the officers are the population.
A structure similar to a greenhouse protects the inside houses-offices and common areas from the cold Denmark weather.
